If someone wants to to do this as a little mini side project, ibwouldnt be mad about it. I probably wont have time to right now. Maybe later in the season.

I haven't talked to brad (Detroit) about this, but I'll go ahead and volunteer him and myself to put one out when baseball America and MLB come out with their mid season updates soon.

Alright, Detroit and I came up with the following list based largely on Baseball America's updated top 100 prospects. I'm biased towards them and I'll definitely admit that. Also, only players currently on a prospect roster were considered for this ranking. For instance, Gleyber Torres on my team is a prospect, but he's on my major league roster so he is not eligible. Cody Bellinger is no longer prospect eligible per baseball america, but he is on a prospect roster in this league so he is included in our ranking determination. I will say before we get started that the top tier seems pretty clearly Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox, followed by a clear second tier of Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, and Arizona Diamondbacks. Everyone else is in a tier below them but well ahead of St. Louis Cardinals' since they have 0 prospects. Thanks for making that last spot easy on us Cardinals.
1. CHC – Chicago had the most prospects in the top 100 with 9 and they also had 6 in the top 50. Also, they have an extensive prospect list with 26 total prospects. All of these factors narrowly put them over Boston for our rankings. 2. BOS – Boston has a whopping 8 top 100 prospects and 6 in the top 50. This was close with CHC because Boston has a lot of top 100 propects and an extensive farm system, but Boston doesn’t have any prospects currently in the top 20. That left them slightly below Chicago, but with a lot of upside to leapfrog him in the near future. 3. DET – 3rd was definitely our most debated spot and we went back and forth on whether to put Twins or Tigers in this spot a couple time. Tigers has 6 top 100 prospects, but 4 in the top 25. This gave him the slight edge over Twins. 4. MIN – Minnesota Twins has 6 top 100 prospects, but only Benintendi in the top 30. However, they had a lot of rookie draft picks this year that have high upside, so they could surpass everyone above them in the next year. 5. KC – Kansas City Royals has a whopping 8 top 100 prospects, which is more than Twins or Tigers. However, their lack of true star power leaves them behind in 5th place as they only had 1 prospect in the top 45. 6. ARI - This was a really tough call because Arizona only has 4 top 100 prospects, but 3 are top 10 prospects. That star power is tough to beat, but in the end their lack of depth dropped their system down to 6th. 7. PIT – Pirates has 3 top 100 prospects, but they really lack star power. Ian Happ is their top prospect, and even though he is mashing so far in the Majors he was never a consensus top 15 prospect. As a Cubs fan, I hope he keeps up his good fantasy performance, but that sample size will have to expand before we consider him a legit top prospect in the same realm as Cody Bellinger or Andrew Benintendi. 8. TOR – Blue Jays only has 3 top 100 prospects but 2 are in the top 10. However, their system lacks depth with only 3 non rookie prospects currently on the roster. 9. LAD – Dodgers only has 1 top 100 prospect, but it’s a top 10 prospect. That puts him solidly in 9th. 10. COL – Rockies has no top 100 prospects, but a lot of fringe prospects. That gave them the edge over the Yankees. 11. NYY – Yankees has no top 100 prospects or any real fringe top 100 prospects. Those factors led their system to be ranked 11th in our initial rankings. 12. STL – Thanks for making this easy on us by not have any prospects. Solidly in 12th, but their risk of mortgaging the farm system to compete this year very well might pay off.
We probably screwed something in this ranking up, so I apologize in advance.

Great job but i think youre sleeping on my star power with guys like Clint Frazier (top 20) and moniak (top 15) and allard (top 50) definatly have more than 1 in the top 50.

I definitely get your argument. My trust of Baseball America hurt you more than others because they are unusually low on Moniak and Frazier.

This is really good. I think its pretty accurate.... I see why my team is a little lower but i fully expect to jump to #1 by AT LEAST midseason next uear when Pint, Groome, and Greene all get extremely close to the majors.

Pretty cool guys appreciate the effort I'm not high on prospects unless they r very close to the majors so to b 7th is good enough for me. Thanks guys for the effort y'all put in on this.

Twins def will be jumping a lot in the next year. No doubt about that! Also we kept it to eligible prospects in this particular league. Reyes, moncada and players like that are on ur mlb roster not the prospect bench. Otherwise these would've been a little different. Thanks Jays for posting this!

We aren't going to go through and update the whole rankings because frankly the prospect rosters are so in depth now that I don't feel like I could accurately rank farm systems. Here are some interesting facts based on Baseball America's recently released top 100 though. These do not include anyone not on your prospect roster. For instance Acuna, Torres, Kopech, Adames are all on major league rosters so they aren't included below.
Top 100 prospects - CHC - 18 (12 in the top 50 - he has more top 50 prospects on his team than the rest of the NL division has combined) BOS - 12 (no one higher than 30 but 8 between 30 and 60) TOR - 10 (8 top 50) NYY - 8 (4 top 50) ARI - 7 (6 top 50) TB - 6 (3 of the top 4 prospects) KC - 6 MIN - 5 ATL - 1 COL - 1 LAD - 1

Nice! Looking forward to it. Would you make a new thread for it and title it "2019 Farm System Rankings"? Or something to that effect
