We will be discussing the categories used for the 2018 season and beyond. I will update this tomorrow with what i personally think it should be and everyone else can chime in and ultimately i hope to have a decision everyone is hapoy with whether it has to go to a vote or everyone just agrees. Id assume itll go to a vote but we will see what happens guys.
I do apologize for the delay on this, as i also have to assume this not being discussed probably has had a big impact on the lack of activity in trade talks since the world series ended. Thanks for your patience everyone!

Alright guys. My personal opinion on the cats should be a 7×7 and they would be
Hitting: Runs (R) Home Runs (HR) Extra Base Hits (XBH) Runs Batted In (RBI) Stolen Bases (SB) Average (AVG) Walks (BB)
Pitching: Strikeouts (K) Quality Starts (QS) Wins (W) Saves (SV) Holds (HD) Earned Run Average(ERA) Walks/Hits per Inning Pitched (WHIP)
As previously stated, this is simply my opinion. Id like to hear what everyone thinks and lets get this discussion finished up as fast as we can so we can have this solidified in the rules and we can move on. Thanks everyone.

I'd like for the league to consider OPS instead of XBH in the batting, and K/9 instead of holds for pitching. Maybe we could vote?

How about total bases instead of xbh? Then homers and triples are weighted more heavily than doubles.

I’m with Toronto on total bases rather than just XBH

OPS takes into account total bases. It's a neat stat.

So at this point we're discussing (and will be voted on soon) Hitting- XBH or Total Bases(TB) or On base percentage plus Slugging percentage(OPS) Pitching- Holds or Ks per 9 (K/9) Another note. I want our Categories to be 7x7. But im open to that changing if other want it to be 6x6 or 8x8. I am completely against 6x6 personally and feel 7x7 should be the minimum. Just tossing that out there. **These categories are just what have been brought up. This discussion is still open to anything else being changed, added or removed

I hope we are not getting rid of holds , u may as well scrap 70 percent of the free agent relief pitchers as they would really have no value .... the point of having holds is to add value to the relief pitchers not take value away

And most teams have hold guys already cause if the value they brought in pts leagues. Holds def need to factor in some way or another

Agreed. Holds need to be a cat. Either holds plus saves or holds on its own. K/9 seems a bit redundant with strikeouts already a Cat

I dont really like holds+saves because it will kill closers value.

Holds would carry equal value to Saves. Seems so silly to me. I guess I didn't realize everybody else was that interested in rostering setup men. I honestly can't think of an elite one off the top of my head. Are there any legendary setup men in the Hall of Fame? Just doesn't seem relevant to fantasy baseball.
I seem to be in the minority here, so I can learn to dig it I suppose.

K/9 is precisely what gives a skilled non-closing reliever value

K/9 would add a great value to the set up guys like NYY is saying, however I don’t think we should eliminate holds all together. Definitely a good idea if we were to do 8x8 instead of 7x7 though. I also agree that we need to put more value to triples and homeruns, and I’m a big fan of doing total bases vs. extra base hits or OPS. OPS would be another good category to add if we did 8x8 as well. I know it seems like I want 8x8, but I’m not pushing for it, just stating my opinion if we were to do 8x8 that K/9 and OPS would be good stats to add. Also, not sure if it’s possible to edit it this way or not, but if we combined saves and holds but made saves worth two and holds worth one we could combine the two and then just add K/9.
