Hey everyone... Just some reminders and pointers for the upcoming FA draft. Draft will begin at 12 noon CST on March 1st. Every player picked will be rostered at their current real life salary and full contract. A little sife note that everyone must remember... And this is a bit of a buzz kill and could essentially be an obstacle for all... You will not be able to draft a player that does not currently have a contract. I will have the draft order fully updated today.

Is there any potential to push it back a week or 2? 6 of the top 13 free agents haven't even signed yet.

Yea i know... Ive considered this... The biggest issue being, the closer we get to the season without beginning FAB, The more into the season it could run. Idc either way tbh.

I do and i think we need to stay the course most of the free agents that are unsigned are wanting big contracts and big money anyways let the be in the bidding process and said team can decide next year to keep or not im ready to get rolling especially since ive been watching spring ball and i think we should stay on track

I’m fine with continuing. I’m not targeting Arrieta or a big time salary guy so it’s not going to affect me.

I think we should be able to draft the MLB free agents. Each comes with the inherent risk that they occupy a bench spot until they land a contract, and if you cannot find a way to afford them once they land a contract, you must drop them. Basically a wasted FA pick if it doesn't work out. A risk that comes with the investment. They are added to the "can't add" list following any drop.
It has been a brutal hot stove season for free agents, and I have a feeling it carries on for several of them up to or even into the regular season.
I agree with Nick in that we should remain on schedule. As a team with low salary available, I would like to have at least 3 weeks for my FA bidding to shake out.

I think we should be able to draft any free agent , if he doesn’t have a contract that’s a risk u take , also all minor players should be drafted at the 500k contract of a rookie until they sign a contract in real life

I agree with d backs completely! Rookie contracts or players who haven’t hit arbitration yet should still be able to be drafted.

All that does in my opinion is create the possibility for a stressful situation when they sign a bigger deal than expected and you have to scurry to get back under the cap. If you draft a minor leaguer, he is drafted at .5, but is still put on your ML roster, not your prosoect roster. In the end, regardless of the outcome of the "no contract" FA player, i think staying on schedule is a big deal as we are a month away from the season and FAB will run right up to the season, if not into the season.

So you are saying we can’t draft a player who hasn’t hit arbitration yet?

Not at all. Im saying you can draft any player in the pool except the players that dont have contracts. I guess to be specific, that dont have a contract in baseball as a whole. Minor leaguers technically are under contract, just not "Major league" contracts. But if someone drafts a High A player, he will be put on your ML roster at .5, not your prospect roster. Thats what im saying. This is a free agent drafat for your ML roster... Not a secondary minors draft. Make sense?

Yeah 100% man. I was just clarifying about rookies or young players. Thanks for the clarification.
