The draft is scheduled to kickoff at 12 pm cst. We still have an issue to discuss.
The allowance of teams to draft a player that does not have a baseball contract and is not under control of any team (ML or Minor leagues).
Im personally against it as it poses difficulty to any team that suddenly takes on the contract of the player and potentially has to scramble to get under the cap. I need all owners thoughts and may even have to send this to a vote.

I say you draft at your own risk, and if you have cap issues you have 48 hours to get under cap or player drafted is released back in to free agency pool.

Im fine with drafting at your own risk but i dont agree with the 2nd part. You shouldnt be able to just release them to the FA pool penalty free.
If we do a "draft at your own risk" system, then you have to figure it out if you go over the cap. Drops result in penalties via in season drop rules.

I can agree with that also, so basically you get how many so hours to get under cap, and if you can't, must release players to get under cap. Following the guideline rules for waving a player

I dont think you should be able to draft a unsigned player unless you have 20+ mil in cap space the season is almost here and no dropping for free

I'm with St. Louis and Twins. If we decide to allow drafting of any free agent and you draft a player that puts you over the cap when you sign, you should have 48 hours to get back under the cap with all in-season penalties applying.
I'd like to be able to draft any player who is a free agent. You should be able to come up with a fairly accurate range for these free agents at this point to know what they will probably sign for. If you take the risk and miscalculate that, you get hit with the penalty of having to cut him in-season.

I say draft at your own risk and you know going into it that the player is going to b expensive or not u will just have to plan the rest of your draft on what u think he will get

Another thing to keep in mind here... If someone drafts mouse 1st round, and he signs middle of the 2nd round, and that team goes over the cap, via the rules, a team over the cap cannot draft in the FA draft so his picks suddenly cant be made in the rest of the draft.

The draft kivks off in moments.
Here is the official ruling: -any player can be drafted -12 hour pick timer for round 1 and 8 hour timer for rounds 2 and 3 -if a player is insigned when drafted, but signs after, that team has 48 hours to get under the cap if cap is exceeded. If they cannot get under the cap in the alotted time, they will be forced to waive the player (pay half salary this year and half next year).

Also, as the draft has just started, in season drop rules are now in effect.
