Week 3 Predictions
American League
Minnesota (17-10-1) vs New York (5-18-5)
Minnesota coming off a close loss to Toronto and looking to bounce back, will need to get the bats going if they want a win this week. New York, coming off a playoff year, sits at 11 of 12 in the standings after a rough first 2 weeks. New York will need pitching to step up if they want a chance this week. Our committee thinks this game is close one.. But we give the edge to Minnesota.
Winner: Minnesota (9-5-0)
Tampa Bay (17-9-2) vs Boston (13-12-3)
One of the big surprises this year, Boston is sitting just above .500 but may meet their maker this week. Tampa Bay poses the bihgest threat thus far and doesnt appear to be slowing. After back to back dominant performances, we see domation continuing as Tampa already has their sites on the playoffs.
Winner: Tampa Bay (10-3-1)
**MARQUEE MATCHUP**
Toronto (13-14-1) vs Kansas City (13-15-0)
Both teams hold sub .500 records, but this should be a good one. As KC was hit with the early injury bug, the players are regaining health and KC hopes to see more success soon. Toronto had a big week knocking off Minnesota last week behind their big bats. This one is close and arguably a toss up, bur we're going with thr healthy squad.
Winner: Toronto (8-6-0)
National League
Arizona (7-20-1) VS Colorado (4-24-0)
Just what are the Rockies cooking? If ya ask me, it's smelling like a steaming, stinking pile of Grade-A monkey crap! Back in the kitchen, Machado and Khris Davis are looking to roast the opposition this week after bashing a combined 5 dingers, 11 RBIs, and a whopping 35 total bases in week two. If Joey Votto finds a way to serve up elite production again, look out sidewinders! To their credit, the slithery snakes began to warm up in week two and nearly had the Dodgers nailed down. Mad Max absolutely shredded the shins of meandering cowpokes, and Bellinger, Sanchez, and J.D. are warming up in the desert sun. I foresee a close matchup, but I get the feeling The Rockies are gonna go down Know Your Role Boulevard, hang that right at Jabroni Drive, and proceed to check those Diamondback asses in at the Smackdown Hotel. If you SNELLLLLL...what the Rockies...are cookin'!
Winner: Colorado (7-6-1)
Los Angeles (22-6-0) VS St. Louis (11-14-3)
Rising to the top, the cream of the crop! These Macho Dodgers show few cracks and are looking like the team to beat in the NL. If it weren't for Arenado throwing down for the heavyweight title, a complete obliteration would be on tap in this squared circle. Thus far, much of St. Louis' vaunted pitching has forgone flamethrowing and instead taken to throwing batting practices. This does not bode well, as these birds appear to live and die by the wing. Sale and CMart are flying high, but they can only do so much. Look for the Dodgers to throw everything but the kitchen sink that these birds, before finally finishing them off with the proverbial elbow drop from the top turnbuckle!
Winner: Los Angeles (9-4-1)
Atlanta (22-3-3) VS Chicago (14-13-1)
I am 0-2 picking against these Braves. I am 4-0 picking all other matchups thus far. I'm calling them the Atlanta Leprechauns, because they apparently have the luck of the friggin' Irish! With salty production from the likes of Charlie Morton, Jake Junis and Tyler Anderson, and juuuuust enough batting to squeek by, these natives have seemingly found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. At least in the early going. A scalping of the Cubbies in week 3 will go a long way in proving to the masses that these Braves are indeed legit. Unfortunately for them, the bear bros rolling into town boast one of the most impressive pitching staffs in the league. Combine this with bats that mashed 9 dongs in week 2, and things could get ugly. Braves the best team in the NL? I'll believe that when me shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbert!
Winner: Chicago (9-5-0)
