Week 4 Matchup Predictions
American League
***Marquee Matchup***
Minnesota (25-16-1) v Boston (22-19-1)
Welcome to our Prime Time matchup of week 4. This matchup has hard hitters, strike throwing pitchers and Big league dip spitters. Minnesota comes off a close win over the Yankees that most attribute to the late week blockbuster move, acquiring Mike Trout for Clayton Kershaw. The Twins were credited in most part for their pitching entering the season, yet they have had some of the hottest bats in the season, while their pitching has been less than consistent. Boston enters week 4 sitting 4th in the American League, one of the many surprises thus far in 2018. Boston boasts an offense that sits top 6 in all offensive CATs except Batting Average. This offense is on fire and looks to continue it in week 4. Pitching looks to be the deciding factor for these 2 teams. Look for a real life comparison this week, as the Real Life Red Sox were recently No Hit by Sean Manaea and the A's... Look for the Fantasy Sox to be hushed by Minnesotas powerful Pitching and slightly edged by the Twins Hitting.
Winner: Minnesota (9-5)
Kansas City (20-19-3) v Tampa Bay (24-16-1)
Kansas City is off to a hot start, but no one believes it can be sustained this week, as the Royals run head first into a brick wall, that is The Tampa Bay Rays. Your 2 time Champion Tampa Bay Rays did not care about the offseason changes to stats and scoring, as they continue rolling along and will not be stopped this week. Tampa Bay has a stupid dumb unfair pitching staff and a lineup that can be described by simply saying, "All Star Team." The Royals have been plagued by injuries but still sit at #3 in the American League standings, and have boasted some phenomonal showings by FAB pitchers, but don't look for them to hold up in week 4. As some would say... Rays Gon Ray.
Winner: Tampa Bay (11-3)
New York (11-26-5) v Toronto (17-23-2)
Consider this the undercard. But this isnt any undercard, this is a matchup of HEAVYWEIGHTS, big clunky heavy hitting, 2 round lasting HEAVYWEIGHTS. Toronto and New York have eerily similar hitting stats, so look for then to be back and fourth all week with this matchup possibly being decided on sunday... Or far earlier, as New York has the superior pitching staff. Our experts here at Dynasty Fantasy HQ have been quoted saying, "New Yorks pitching wins this one. If Toronto conceeds a hitting CAT, thats his week." My guess is we will see 1 or maybe both of these teams on the trade market soon if they plan to make a jump in the standings. What we know: Toronto is 5th and New York is 6th. What we dont know: Can New York put together a good enough week to begin their trek up the mountain that is, the AL Standings.
Winner: New York (8-3-3)
National League
Chicago (22-17-3) VS Arizona (11-29-2)
Shikaka, Shikakaaa, Shikasche, Shish kebab, Shawshank Redemption, Chicago! Arizona, you're outta there! Ace Ventura references aside, Arizona has fallen fast to the bottom of the NL (hey, me too bro!-NY). Look for the woes to continue in week four. In the early going, it appears as though the Diamondbacks are somewhat of a jack of all cats, master of none. Possibly with trades made in effort to focus certain categories, or with luck as the temperatures warm, these snakes can begin to hang. In the meantime though, hanging with the Cubs better-than-advertised bats and elite pitching will prove daunting.
Winner: Chicago (8-5-1)
Atlanta (26-11-5) VS Los Angeles (30-9-3)
Will the real Slim Bravey, please stand up? Ok, that was terrible. Guess what wasn't terrible...my week 3 predictions!! The luck finally ran dry for these Braves, but I would be lying if I said they haven't earned my respect. Led by dynamite performances by young talent such as Mitch Haniger and Aaron Nola...N-O-L-A Nola. N-n-n-nola, dunuhnuhnuhnuh...I digress. Anyways, they have proven they can hang with most anybody. Not these Dodgers though...not yet. Correa, Arenado, and Rhys-aroni are hammering home the bat cats, and the pitching staff is proving decent enough to hang most weeks. Look for the Dodgers to continue their NL reign of dominance for now.
Winner: Los Angeles (7-4-3)
St. Louis (14-22-6) VS Colorado (13-28-1)
Colorado's bats have gone batshit crazy, and that pitching staff led by Blake Snell is exceeding everyone's expectations. I spoke with Colorado's manager Scott Gugler, and he told me after the week two dismantling at the hands of the Cubs that he threatened his team of slackers with bodily harm. It has really payed off! Meanwhile, the bird bats have been mostly non existent, and the once vaunted pitching staff is a shell of its former self. The season is young, but I foresee the trade discussion picking up for the ever-competitive Cardinals.
Winner: Colorado (11-2-1)
