This is a dynasty league and not a keeper league. What this entails is this:
1. You keep all players on your team after the year that are NOT Free Agents after the World Series. If a player signs an extension before the completion of the Real Life World Series, you will retain that player. If not, he is a Free Agent.
2. All Free Agents after the World Series will become Free Agent in our league unless you use a franchise tag on them (you will want to tag players that are going to be FA in the offseason and you may tag 1 player each season).
3. You are allowed one Franchise Tag per offseason and the player's salary will be 1.5× for the first season of the contract on the new deal that he signs.
EX. If you tag Matt Holliday and he signs for 1Y for $20 mill in real life. THen his salary on here (IF TAGGED) will be $30 mill the first season.
3A. The league does not recognize deferred money.
3B. Signing bonuses do not have to be paid and are deducted from the first season, just like in real life.
3C. The league recognizes Base Salary on spotrac as the basis for the first season of a contract.
4. This rule goes for ALL transactions. Any drop, bid on a Free Agent, guy you decide to franchise (or not franchise), prospect you decide to keep or drop in the offseason, players over limits guy you decide to keep or drop, and anything else is set in stone as soon as you post. It doesn't matter if you think it is a bad decision or whatever the excuse is. Whenever you post about a transaction, you are under an written contract clause within the league. Any violation of this will result in a loss of your top Rookie pick (if no Rookie pick, we will go to minor league pick and then FA pick). This will most likely only come into effect when a person post something about a player (franchise, free agent, etc), and then deletes the post.
5. During the playoffs there WILL BE NO TRANSACTIONS, UNLESS you have a player put on the IL, and they must be IL eligible on ESPN. In that case you CAN add another player and drop the hurt player. You will get that player back after the Fantasy World Series. This is so you don't have players who just eat your team alive because they do not do anything. Also, you can still activate guys from your DL which may cause you to drop someone.
5A. Non Playoff teams are not allowed to make any moves during playoffs.
FRANCHISE TAG:: Each year you get a chance to franchise a player. You DO NOT have to franchise a player.
Teams will have til March 1st (12 am cst, Midnight) to Franchise Tag a Player.
-If a Player is Franchised Tagged, that is final.
--Said Player will be kept on terms of full salary, but the first season will cost 1.5x.
---If a manager decides to Franchise Tag a player, and drop him before the deadline, the manager will pay based on the newly signed deal.
-If you Franchise Tag a player and he has not signed by the March 1st deadline, you will assume the full contract he signs, when he signs it.
--If you drop said player before he signs a contract, you will still assume the drop price once he signs UNLESS he goes the duration of the current season without signing.
Scoring:
1. Scoring will be head-to-head CATs, 7x7 with Runs being the tie breaker in Playoffs.
1A. Second tie breaker, if runs is a tie is H2H Record in season.
1B. Third Tie Breaker, if H2H Record is a tie will be H2H W/L in season with the opponent.
2. We will have 3 divisions, with each division winner making the playoffs and the next best 3 teams (by win%) making it. Top 2 division winners get byes.
3. Stats recorded can be found on the ESPN page. Rules are subject to change in the offseason pending votes following suggestions for the rule to be changed. NEVER in season will a rule be changed.
Prospects:
1. You may trade prospects however you would like. There is a 60 prospect limit per prospect roster.
2. You have 4* minors bench spots specifically for calling up your prospects (Minor League Bench); players on your Major League Roster can NOT be placed on the Minor League Bench.
3. Once you call up a prospect, they will count as $.6 million on your salary cap as long as they are on the minors bench. Once sent back down, they cost nothing. Meaning each team could have a possible of $2.4 Million against the cap in prospects on the minors bench.
4. You may Promote your prospects to your MLB bench spots as well, but once you do you will not be able to send them back down to the Minors bench spots or Prospect roster.
5. Once a player reaches the 130AB/50 inning minimum, you will NOT be forced to call them up to your 14 Man prospect roster at seasons end. These players can also be sent to the MLB Roster.
6a. At the end of the season, if you have a prospect above the 130AB/50IP minimums, you will be given the option to move them up to your prospect roster or move them to the ML roster.
6b. Players that cross 130AB/50IP but stay below 500AB/150IP will be able to be kept on your 14 man prospect roster.
7. Minor League Players can only be acquired via trades and drafts. You may add minor league players to your major league roster, but you cannot send them down to the minors.
8. All minor leaguers receive 5 options. These can be used to be called up to your Minors bench. Each player gets 5 options for their duration of time as a prospect in this league. The number never resets and if traded, stays the same. Example: player A, 2/5 options, if traded, will still be at 2/5 options.
9. If a propsect is traded, and is currently on a teams minors bench, he will assume a spot on the new teams minors bench UNLESS there is no spot available for him. In which case, he will need to be called back up costing him an option. It will be up to the owners of said players to navigate their roster in which ever way they choose to make their moves make sense to how they want them to.
