I think we should compensate teams that draft a player and then lose them due to not signing.
Normally I wouldn't bring up rule changes mid season but we're still 2 months from the rookie draft.
A most obvious ideas are comp picks in the next rookie draft. But the question becomes, where? Maybe following that same round in the following years draft? The picks would be untradeable. What do you guys think?

I like the idea. MLB does it where you get the same pick next year plus 1 spot. If the 3rd overall pick doesn't sign, that team gets the 4th pick next year.

I don’t see an issue at all mimicking how MLB does it. I mean, if you’re gambling on a 22nd rd guy, then that’s on you, but teams who draft a guy 10th overall and lose him, that hurts.

Good point Bobby. I should've clarified that MLB just does that for 1st and 2nd round picks. I think all of our draft picks in the rookie draft are typically taken in the 1st or 2nd round though.

Yea I dont see why there can't be compensation for all rounds in our draft. I'd like to see if anyone objects to this. I cant imagine they would but, what do I know 😂

I'm gonna let this sit a couple weeks before I put this to a poll but I think as of now, our 3 or 4 options will be
1. Leave it as is. 2. Comp pick the next year following the same round a player was selected but not signed. 3. Comp pick the next year at the exact same spot. 4. Comp pick the next year at the exact same spot +1. So 1 pick lower/worse than the year prior.
Any disagreement on the options?
Anyone who hasn't commented, let us know where you sit on this.
