Alright everyone. I've listened to you all. Weighed the pros and the cons, and we're expanding. We'll be adding 2 new teams..
Washington Nationals led by John Medieros
And
Kansas City Royals led by Logan Sims
I'll introduce them in the owners box later today.
To be clear, this is what they will be given in the drafts. They have been in the loop on all this stuff and they agreed to all the terms.
Each of the expansion owners will receive the following:
Minors draft-
Picks at 4 and 5 of the 1st 2 rounds.
Picks at 1 and 2 for the 3rd and 4th round.
1 pick each at the end of each round.
Rookie Draft-
Picks at 4 and 5 of the 1st 2 rounds.
Picks at 1 and 2 of the 3rd-7th rounds.
1 pick at the end of each round.
Free Agent Draft
Picks at 4th and 5th of the 1st round.
Picks at 1 and 2 of the 2nd round.
4 extra picks each at the end of the draft. Just like everyone else, these Picks don't have to be used but I think we'd advise it? Lmao.
We are also going to need to realign divisions. We can do that 1 of 2 ways.
1. The championship matchup last year does a draft, like we did a few years back. (Brad and Myself)
2. I go through standings and do RNG for every 2 teams and hope it comes out fair.
Playoffs for this year are gonna be a little screwy but I think ultimately, this will work out. So check it... since we'll have realigned divisions of 7 each, I think the best way to do this is as follows.
7 games against the other division (1 per team)
12 games against your own division (2 per team)
--That's 19 weeks.
Typically we end the season at 23 weeks. Espn doesn't allow us to do any kinds of custom schedule in playoffs, it's either 1 or 2 weeks and it felt like we maybe were losing interest with 2 week playoffs matchup. But what if we do a run around..
I'm thinking weeks 20 and 21 would still technically be "in season" but we hold rounds 1 and 2 of playoffs those 2 weeks and then we have our championship still be 2 weeks, weeks 22 and 23. This gives everyone a fair shake against the competition, it gives us 2 extra weeks for the season (because I think the vast majority saw 17 as not enough), we still get our 2 week championship and the playoffs aren't quite as grueling. Let me know what you guys think about this. As we're adding 2 teams, I don't think it makes sense to go down to 4 playoff teams? But also doesn't make much sense to jump to 8. And I think we definitely need the 19 weeks of matchups so everyone can get a fair set of games against everyone else.
