Do you want:
Eduardo Rodriguez -- $7.0M, has a 2.32 ERA and 0.84 WHIP, made 3 QS with 25 Ks in 31 innings. No earned runs in last two starts.
Alex Cobb -- $7.5M, has a 1.91 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, made 2 QS with 26 Ks in 28.1 innings. Last start was a CG shutout of the Cardinals.
Willson Contreras -- $8.0M, has 2 HR, 10 RBI, 2 SB (bonus from C pos), ESPN pos. rank is 4.
Anthony Rizzo -- $2.3M, has 5 HR, 43 TB, .286 avg., hitting in middle of Yankees order. You don't even need help fitting him under the cap.
Joey Gallo -- $0.6M, picked up where he left off after a short injury stint, has 6 HR in 38 ABs. Now qualifies at 1B, too.
Mitch Haniger -- $2.5M, just back from the IL. Should be a powerhouse in the middle of the SF order.
What I am looking for? The future.
Picks. Prefer minors, really prefer FA but I understand their value, so minors.
Prospects. Would I love the three Baseball America top-10s? Absolutely. I know that's not going to happen.
Roster players. Younger with upside, esp. if you are getting someone who can put you over the top now, though I can always take back a scrap piece in the mix.
How am I approaching trades? I have few resources. Many of you have 20-30 more players in your organization, and most of your roster is better than most of mine. I need to gain resources.
Best thing to do is make me an offer. I can compare it to the others. I can look at your roster and counter. Maybe you wow me and I jump on it. Need salary? I can help, but that comes with a surcharge -- it isn't much (with 10 teams at $15M or less, I'm figuring this will come into play).
Oh yeah, Chris Sale. Unless you want to trade to me like it's 2018, let's wait. If he continues to be a 8-ERA and nearly 2-WHIP kind of guy, I've saved you from that suffering. I can deal him later on the cheap and maybe he gives you a decent stretch run. Two good starts, two bad starts and the Baltimore game? Can't say what his value is at this point.
As for others on my roster since I've had a few inquiries, I am not looking for lateral moves at this point. I know that's not really great for you, but I point back to the resources comment. I'd like to make moves to catch up to the rest of the league for now. But always feel free to pitch something. Now that I have my ducks in a row better, I can actually get into this stuff.
