In Season
There will be a few different ways of dropping players.
Buyout- You will pay that players salary for that season and owe nothing in the future. The player surpasses waivers and is automatically a Free Agent.
Waiver- You will drop the player, and owe half his salary this year and half the following season. UNLESS another team puts in a waiver claim for that player within the 48 hour window. In this case, the team that dropped the player will owe nothing and the team that wins him on waivers, will now have to pay the players remaining contract, whether its FAB or a real contract.
Off season
Off season drops will have tiered penalties. Salaries from the previous season will be calculated when determining the cap hit for the following season.
Ex. Carl Crawford 2012 salary= $21 Million, cap hit of $10.5 Million in 2013.
The reason we are taking the previous season salary is because of players in arbitration or free agent players. We wouldnt know some salaries until we got into February or later and this would be a serious pain.
Here's the scale for Off Season Drops:
0-$3 Million- Free Drop
$3.1-$7 Million- .125 X salary (1/8th of salary)
$7.1- $12 Million- .250 X salary (1/4th of salary)
$12.1- $18 Million- .375 X salary (3/8th of salary)
$18.1 Million+ - .5 X salary (1/2 of salary)
Offseason Drops End when the New Season begins, March 1st. At this point, In Season drop rules are in effect.
injury drop rules
-All members will be allowed 1 injury drop per season.
--The injury drops allow you to drop a player for free and leave you clear of the contract.
---These drops are only allowed for a player that is out for the season. You will need to show an article or some sort of update online to prove the injury. A link on the player drop thread will work.
----These drops are allowed from the beginning of the offseason (ex: Edinson Volquez-- Tommy John, offseason before 2018 season) til the trade deadline. At the deadline, these drops will not be allowed til the start of the next offseason.
