Rules regarding Prospect Rosters and Prospect Lists:
1. Players can only be added to your prospect roster/list by being drafted in the Rookie or Minors draft, or trade from another team and being on the other teams Prospect Roster.
The reason behind this is, we dont want teams to swarm free agency picking up all the prospects. There is no fair way of distributing them other than, yearly rookie and minors drafts.
2. All minor leaguers have 5 options for their life as a prospect in the League. There are 2 ways to call a player up that is still prospect eligible.
A. Call him up to your minors bench spot (you have 4 of these on your roster). In doing this, he is still eligible to be sent back down to minors (prospect roster).
B. Call him up to your Major League roster. In this case, the player loses all options and loses his prospect eligibility and is now part of your roster. You cannot send him back down to your prospect roster, the only way to get rid of him is to drop or trade.
3. All teams will have 4 minor league spots on their roster. These spots may only be filled by a player brought up from your prospect roster. If you happen to land a good prospect from free agency, he cant be moved to your prospect roster (see point 1.) And can't occupy your minor league spot, this player must be placed on your ML roster.
4. If a player on your prospect roster (hitter- 130AB, Pitcher- 50IP) is UNDER either of the prospect limits, he is eligible to be a prospect all season. Unless the team wants to pull him to the major league roster. Once he us officially on the major league roster, he loses prospect status all the way around.
5. Prospect options- All prospects begin with 5 options for their life as a Prospect in the League. If called to the minors bench spot, thats an option. Once they get called up for a 5th time in their career in the league, they cannot be sent down for the remainder of the season (or EVER). Prospects will be traded with the amount of options used. The options do not reset in the event of trade. If a player is on your minors bench when traded, and has exhausted all 5 options, the new team can't send the player down. He can either be on the minors bench or sent to the ML roster.
6. Once a prospect is called up to the minors bench (1 of 4 spots), his salary is the minimum (currently $.6 Million). That salary holds until he is sent back down.
**7. Recently, we added a prospect List. The prospect List can be up to 60 minor leaguers with under 130AB/50IP. The Prospect Roster consists of a maximum of 14 players that have under 500AB/150IP.
