Power rankings through Week 11
Our biggest mover in our *Post InterLeague* Power Rankings. ^5 Spots
1. Detroit Tigers Record: 8-3 Streak: W1 --Detroit remains #1 this week. Despite not being the overall #1 in the standings, the 366 Points per week avg can not be ignored. Detroit is +800 in Total Points vs Points Against and that is +200 to any other team. The addition of Nolan Arenado could be exaclty what this team needed to secure a 3rd consecutive Dynasty Championship.
2. St. Louis Cardinals Record: 9-2 Streak: L1 --Coming in at a close 2nd, with a better record and a +600 Total Points vs Points Against, St. Louis is coming off a tough sunday night loss to KC. A few injuries have tried to to tamper with St. Louis success, but they have prevailed. St. Louis is on the edge of #1.. How much more will it take?
3. Kansas City Royals Record: 7-4 Streak:W2 --1 of only 2 teams to have defeated the top 2 teams, KC falls in line at #3 in this weeks Power Ranks. The road for KC has been up and down, and while Interleague Play has ended, it doesnt look to get any easier during League play. The Royals will need their Hitting to remain strong in order to perform at a 3rd place Power Ranks Potential.
4. Minnesota Twins Record: 7-4 Streak: W4 --Currnetly the longest winning streak in the League, the Twins have done nothing but battle injuries this year, as well as allow the Most Points Overall. The Twins have gotten to a Positive Overall Point total for the 1st time all season, this past week. All of the Twins injured pitching should be coming off the DL soon, leading most to believe this team has serious potential... No one really knows what this team is capable of, but they will need a little luck if they want to continue winning.
5. Los Angeles Dodgers Record: 7-4 Streak: W1 --The only other team to have Bested the top 2 teams in the League comes in at #5 this week, the Dodgers. Most believe the dodgers were a top 3 team at seasons start, and quite a few still believe this. Half way through the season, the Dodgers have a built a 7-4 record and look to continue on recent success. A stout +320 Points For/Against, ranking 3rd in the League, has them in contention and poised to make a run at Playoffs.
6. Arizona DBacks Record: 6-5 Streak: L1 --This might seem like a typo.. But Arizona has simply not lived up to the standards that has been set for their team. Losses to Boston, Minnesota, Detroit and even New York (Post New Ownership) during Interleague play has sent them down the standing. The injury to Syndergaard has hurt, but its going to take more than 1 player to get this team back on track.
7. Boston Red Sox Record: 5-6 Streak: W2 --Our big jumper of the week is Boston. He went into Fire Sale mode early, and that seems to be what the team needed, because everything has gone up. A 4-2 record during Interleague play including a huge win in the previous week against Arizona has Boston back on track and in a heated race to get back in contention for an AL Wild Card spot. **Side note, Boston is on a 4-1 run after starting 1-5.
8. New York Yankees Record: 5-6 Streak: W3 --New Ownership has truly turned this Franchise around. New York is 1 of the 3 teams in a heated race for an AL Wild Card spot. Some key moves recently to land Francy Lindor and move out Joe Ross and Aledmys Diaz seem to have improved this team, but was it enough to make a playoff run?
9. Toronto Blue Jays Record: 5-6 Streak: L2 --The 3rd team in the AL Wild Card race, and probably furthest out is the Blue Jays. A 2 game slide to end Interleague play has them looking at a negative record. While they have scored the most of the 3 5-6 AL Wild Card hopefuls, they also have been the unlucky recipients of an extra +150 points against compared to the other 2 teams (NYY,BOS)
10. Chicago Cubs Record: 4-7 Streak: L4 --The once promising Cubs Franchise has really fallen down the mountain. All the way up to 5th in the week 7 Ranks, 4 losses in a row has sent them spinning in a downward spiral. Injuries to key Pitchers and a lack of development from healthy youth has the Cubs front office questiom the position they are in with the rebuild. Will the Cubs be Buyers or Sellers at the deadline? Will they sit still and hope for development? We should know the answers in a matter of weeks.
11. Pittsburgh Pirates Record: 2-9 Streak: L4 --A team with alot of future upside, the Pirates seem to be living at the bottom of the league. With half the season to go, a megative record is nearly a certainty. Its about time to look towards the future with this team, expect heavy selling in the future.
12. Colorado Rockies Record: 1-10 Streak: L6 --Colorado made an early trade acquiring Manny Machado, and at the time, it seemed like a blockbuster. Since, Machado has averaged a pedestrian 2.3 FPPG and doesnt look at all like the player we all know him to be. While he doesnt deserve all the credit for Colorados 1-10 record, he isnt helping the matter either. Like Pittsburgh, expect this team to be a heavy seller looking to the future to make a run.
